An adventure along the ancient Via Francigena

Francigena River Trekking is not canyoning but a river trek nearby Pontremoli, along the ancient Via Francigena in the North of Tuscany. With our Environmental Guides, we will explore on foot of the Civasola Creek and the Magra River, with a short walk in between on the historic Via Francigena,. Via Francigena is the ancient pilgrimage which linked Canterbury to Rome.

This activity is also suitable for those with experience in rivers and children over 10 years old. The only requirement is to know how to swim.

We will explore a land between two rivers, walking  along  two waterways to enjoy unique natural perspectives. First we will walk up a section of the Civasola Creek to get used to walking in the water until we reach a  small Tibetan bridge that will connect  us to the track of the ancient Via Francigena.

We will walk a short stretch of this ancient route, passing through small  villages where time has stood still, until we reach a stunning medieval bridge that crosses the Magra River.

Discover Lunigiana and the North of Tuscany with our Environamental Guides. You can try other river trekking in Lunigiana: Stretti di Giardo Adventure and Bagnone River Trekking.
