River trekking along the Via Francigena in Valdantena
Adventure along the Via Francigena in Valdantena, between the Civasola creek and the Magra River through the rural villages of Previdé, Groppodalosio and Molinello.
Guided Tour
The itinerary develops in the beautiful Valdantena, one of the main valleys of Pontremoli. The area is characterized by terraced olive trees and vineyards, chestnut forests and creeks with cool waters that form waterfalls and crystal clear pools.
Via Francigena River Trekking is not canyoning but a river trek, an exploration on foot of the Civasola Creek and the Magra River, with a short walk in between on the historic Via Francigena, the pilgrimage linking Canterbury to Rome. The activity is also suitable for those with experience in rivers and children over 10 years old. The only requirement is to know how to swim.
We will explore a land between two rivers, walking along two waterways to enjoy unique natural perspectives. First we will walk up a section of the Civasola Creek to get used to walking in the water until we reach a small Tibetan bridge that will connect us to the track of the ancient Via Francigena.
We will walk a short stretch of this ancient route, passing through small villages where time has stood still, until we reach a stunning medieval bridge that crosses the Magra River.
